Paddock Lake to resume yard waste collection when weather breaks

If you are a Paddock Lake resident wondering how you’re going to get rid of fall yard waste despite this early winter weather, the village has a message for you.

For now, with unseasonably cold temperatures and snow cover, yard waste collection has been suspended. But it is expected to return yet this season, said Tim Popanda, village administrator.

From a statement Popanda sent to westofthei.com:

The issues we have with collection of yard waste in the cold and snow are:

  • Snow covered leaves cause the leaf vacuum to clog due to ice forming in the vacuums screens.
  • Piles of yard waste become frozen to the ground and pavement.
  • Ice within the piles can damage the vacuums impellers.

We believe we will be able to return to yard waste collection operations next week, provided we can find the piles in the snow banks.
