Flood warning issued for Fox River

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Fox River.

The river has risen about 1 foot over the last 24 hours. As of 7 a.m. it was measuring at 10.9 feet, as measured at the New Munster gauge. Flood stage is 11 feet.

The current forecast calls for the river to continue to rise steadily, cresting at 12.9 feet Friday evening.

Rain is driving the rise in the river. Rain is in the forecast for Wednesday into Thursday morning. NWS is reporting is reporting 1.92 inches of rain since Tuesday at Kenosha Airport.

UPDATE 3:37 p.m. — At 3 p.m., the river is at 11.64, over flood stage. Forecast for the crest has been adjusted higher to 13.4 feet by Friday evening.
