Fox River forecast for another crest above flood stage

A rainy weekend has the National Weather Service forecasting the Fox River, as measured at the New Munster gauge, cresting again above flood stage this week.

The river had been receding and dropped below flood stage of 11 feet on Friday morning. Rain Saturday and Sunday has reversed that trend and the river has been holding steady at just over 10 feet for the past two days. At 5 p.m., the river was at 10.13 feet

If the forecast holds, the river could be over flood stage again by Monday evening and crest on Wednesday at 11.3 feet.

A flash flood watch remains in effect, but no flood advisory, watch or warning has been issued for the river.
