Work on Highway 83-north in Wheatland to begin next week

Road work on Highway 83 between Highway 50 and Highways JB/KD (Karcher Road) to the north are expected to start next week, the state Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

The work, which will cost $598,700, will improve two miles of Highway 83. The contractor, Payne and Dolan, Inc. is expected to finish by the beginning of October 2019. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

The project will also include:

  • Traffic signal modifications at the intersection of Highway 83-north and Highway 50.
  • Signing updates.
  • Installation of reflective backplates to traffic signal heads

Bi-directional traffic will be maintained in a single open lane controlled via the use of flaggers during the work.
