Claire Fox crowned 2020 Kenosha County Fairest of the Fair

2020 Kenosha County Fairest of the Fair Claire Fox

Claire Fox of Brighton was crowned the 2020 Kenosha County Fairest of the Fair in a ceremony at the fairgrounds Saturday evening.

While Fox being the only contestant this year took a little of the suspense out of the evening, the ceremony at the Show & Sale Arena went on as tradition dictated.

This year also was one of transition for the local Fairest of the Fair contest.

In the past, the fairest was named on the first day of the fair, beginning he reign until the first day of the next fair.

However, that timing meant that the fairest did not work toward promoting the fair that they reigned over. To correct that, fairests in Kenosha County — starting this year — will now be crowned at the end of the fair but not start their reign until January and continue through the end of the year, explained Jennifer Happ, Fairest Committee member. For example, Fox will start her reign in January, compete in the state fairest competition early in 2020, work to promote the 2020 fair and then reign over the 2020 fair.

2018 Fairest of the Fair Amanda Boss places the crown on the head of 2020 Fairest of the Fair Claire Fox.
