Aquanuts take second at 2019 Nationals

The Aquanuts show ski team based in Twin Lakes placed second in the team competition in the National Ski Show Tournament in Warsaw, Indiana last weekend.

The Aquanuts were the first of 8 teams to ski on Saturday arriving in the dark at 5:15 a.m for a team meeting and setup.  The six remaining teams skied on Sunday for a total of 14 teams, with skiers from coast to coast.  Over 1,500 athletes competed over the 3-day tournament.

Only the Mad-City ski team from Madison nosed out the Aquanuts by 18 points by a score of  1,877.80 to 1,859.14.   

Led by Show Directors Lexi Gaughan and Pete Rzonca, the Aquanuts bring home a load of hardware back to Twin Lakes and Kenosha County. 

  • Aquanuts Defend the National Championship with 28-girl Ballet Line. 
  • MVP – Male Ethan Shulda from Twin Lakes.
  • MVP- Female back to back winner, Kailey Koehler from Lake Geneva.
  • Best pickup boat driving.

On Friday, two Aquanuts who had qualified for individual act competition and both placed well.  Ethan Shulda finished 7th in Freestyle Jump, and Grace Gurda finished 6th in Swivel. 

The Aquanuts return to Twin Lakes Wednesday night August 14th at 6 p.m. in a combined show with their Junior Team. CornFest takes over Twin Lakes for Aug. 16 and 17 with a 2-day competition featuring waterskiing, music and all you can eat corn.  For more info go to
