Severe thunderstorm watch issued

At 12:40 p.m., the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for an area of Wisconsin that includes Kenosha County.

The watch is set to be in effect until 9 p.m.

Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats from this storm.

An excessive heat warning continues to also be in effect until 8 p.m.

The updated Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 PM as the first round of storms push out and the second round of storms push in. Very damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats.

UPDATE 4:20 p.m. — Below is a video from NWS in Sullivan showing how we were saved from having more severe weather. “The damaging storms that went through the Fox Cities this morning were so strong that they pushed colder air through southern WI and wiped out the unstable air in place and saved us from a more significant wind event.”

UPDATE 4:47 p.m. — The severe thunderstorm watch and excessive heat warning have both been cancelled by NWS.
