Man dies in Lake George fire

A man found in a home on fire in Lake George Thursday died.

James C. Weiss, 67, of Bristol was removed from the home and pronounced dead at the hospital, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

A 41-year-old female who was also at the home was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, the news release said.

The fire is not suspicious in nature, the release said. The cause of the fire is still being investigated and is unknown at this time.

From a news release from Bristol Fire and Rescue issued Friday morning:

On Thursday, July 18th, 2019, at approximately 11:16 AM, Bristol Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched with
Automatic Aid companies to a reported residential structure fire in the 19200 Block of 101st Street in Bristol with a report of flames in the bedroom and a subject still in the residence. Upon arrival, Chief 5200 called for a working fire with flames showing from a single-story home as the crew of the first-arriving suppression unit, Engine 5211, immediately initiated an offensive fire attack through the rear of the structure and removed an unresponsive victim. Chief 5200 then requested MABAS Box Alarm 52-62 to the Box Alarm level with special calls for Kenosha Truck 7 and a Salem Lakes MED Unit to bring additional personnel and equipment resources to the scene. Transitional interior and exterior fire attacks were coordinated for a knockdown approximately 20 minutes after arrival. The responding Salem Lakes MED Unit transported the removed occupant to Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha where Flight For Life was requested for medevac to a Level 1 trauma center. At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation with the Kenosha County Fire Investigation Task Force and the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. Automatic Aid companies assisting at the scene included Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue, Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue, Newport Township Fire Protection District and Antioch Fire Department. MABAS Still and Box Alarm Companies assisting included Town of Paris Fire & Rescue, Kenosha Fire Department, Somers Fire & Rescue,
Kansasville Fire & Rescue, Union Grove Yorkville Fire Department, Twin Lakes Fire Department, Town of Wheatland Fire Department, Town of Randall Fire Department and Fox Lake Fire Protection District with rehabilitation services provided by the Racine Fire Bells. All working companies were supported on-scene by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.
