Identity of man who died in Wheatland fire released

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of a man who died in a fire in Wheatland on July 5.

Stanley J. Mesmer, 71, was found dead in his home by fire department personnel.

“This fire is not suspicious in nature,” said a news release issued Tuesday by KCSD. “The cause of the fire is still being investigated and is unknown at this time.”

The fire in the 32200 block of 45th St., Wheatland, was reported at about 5 a.m., on July 5. Personnel from many area fire departments were at the scene including: Town of Wheatland Fire Department, Randall Fire Department, Twin Lakes Fire Department, Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue, Bristol Fire and Rescue, Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue City of Burlington Fire Department and Antioch Fire Department.
