June 13, 2019 lake test results: Hooker Lake Boat Launch closed; Sunset Beach, DeWitt Park & Shangri-la #1 under caution

The Hooker Lake Boat Launch is closed for swimming and cautions are in effect for Sunset Beach on Lake Elizabeth, Beach #1 in Lake Shangri-la and DeWitt Park Beach on Silver Lake after water test results showed elevated E.coli levels at those locations.

Wednesday’s results causing closures and cautions were:

  • 1300 E.coli/100 mL at Hooker Lake Boat Launch.
  • 260 E.coli/100 mL at Sunset Beach on Lake Elizabeth.
  • 345 E.coli/100 mL at DeWitt Park Beach.
  • 260 E.coli/100 mL at Shangri-la #1.

Full results reported June 13, 2019 by the Kenosha County Division of Health were:

  • Randall — Powers Lake, 62 E.coli/100 mL (reported by town of Randall).
  • Bristol — Lake George 103rd Street, 5
    E.coli/100 mL; Lake George 101st Street, 108
    E.coli/100 mL.
  • Paddock Lake — Old Settlers County Park beach, 210 E.coli/100 mL; North Shore Beach Association, 17 E.coli/100 mL; Hoag Beach, 22 E.coli/100 mL; Paddock-Hooker Lake Association Beach on Paddock Lake, 32 E.coli/100 mL; Paddock-Hooker Lake Association Beach (diving board area in channel), 47 E.coli/100 mL; Hooker Lake Boat Launch, 1300 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Salem Lakes — Silver Lake at Silver Lake County Park beach, 3 E.coli/100 mL; Silver Lake at DeWitt Park, 6 E.coli/100 mL; Center Lake, 33 E.coli/100 mL; Camp Lake, 9 E.coli/100 mL; Rock Lake  83 E.coli/100 mL; Lake Shangri-la #1, 49 E.coli/100 mL; Lake Shangri-la #2, 4 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Wheatland — Lilly Lake, 5 E.coli/100 mL.

The State Department of Health recommends posting warnings at beaches when the test results indicate a E.coli level of 300/100ml or more and closing a beach when test results exceed E.coli 1000/100ml. Wheatland (Lilly Lake) has a policy of posting an advisory for a level of E.coli 235/100 mL or more and closing a beach when test results exceed E.coli 1000/100ml.
