Units responding for crash in Brighton

At about 6:40 a.m., Kansasville Fire Department units and a sheriff’s deputy are responding to a crash at Highway 142 and Highway 75 in Brighton.

Per dispatch: Crash involves two vehicles, one of which is a school bus.

UPDATE 6:54 a.m. — One tow truck responding.

UPDATE 6:58 a.m. — Deputy reports to dispatch that he will be giving students on board a ride to school.

UPDATE 9:47 a.m. — Here’s a news release from the Sheriff’s Department:

“On May 16, 2019 at 6:37 am the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and Kansasville Fire and Rescue responded to the intersection of STH 142 and STH 75 for a crash involving a school bus, and a van. The school bus involved was transporting two students from Westosha Central High School. No injuries were reported during the investigation of this crash. It was determined that a Dousman Transport Company school bus was southbound on STH 75 making a left turn onto eastbound STH 142. A Grand Caravan traveling northbound on STH 75 stopped at the stop sign for STH 142 and continued north through the intersection as the school bus was finishing its left turn. The Grand Caravan struck the school bus resulting in damage to both vehicles. The operator of the Grand Caravan has been issued citations for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Driver’s License, Failure to Yield the Right of Way from a Stop Sign, and No Insurance. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department reminds all drivers to pay attention as they drive on Kenosha County roadways. Keeping our roadways safe for all especially our students and school buses is a priority for the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. ”
