Flood warning issued for Fox River

The Fox River as measured at the New Munster gauge is over flood stage.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning.

At 10 a.m., Friday, the river was at 11.5 feet. The river first exceeded flood stage of 11 feet Thursday evening.

After days of on and off rain, the river level spiked sharply Thursday, rising almost 1.5 feet during 24 hours.

The current NWS forecast for the river calls for a crest of 11.8 feet early Saturday morning. The Fox is expected to be back under flood stage by Monday evening.
