Substantial snow in forecast; winter storm watch issued

There’s some real snow accumulation in the forecast for the last weekend in April.

The latest, local National Weather Service forecast for the area calls for 3 to 7 inches of snow Saturday and Saturday night. Consequently, the NWS has issued a winter storm watch for southern Wisconsin, including Kenosha County. The watch is set to be in effect from 1 p.m., Saturday to 1 a.m., Sunday.

On Saturday, snow should be falling by about noon and continue through midnight, Sunday. It will be windy too, with winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts as high as 35 mph.

The weather after that won’t be real snow retention friendly. The high temperature for Sunday is forecast for 47 and for Monday at 50 and we could see rain Sunday night and Monday.
