Bristol School, in conjunction with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and Bristol Fire and Rescue, will be conducting an ALiCE Drill early this week. The purpose of this event is to evaluate the current practices, test and evaluate emergency communication practices, and continue to build working partnerships with first responders in the community.

The ALiCE program encourages using provocative response strategies to increase survivability in the event of a violent intruder. ALiCE stands for: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. While ALiCE is an acronym, it does not require to follow it in sequential order. This approach is meant to provide options for response and a quick reaction as there is no particular response that fits all active threat situations.

Last Thursday, the school hosted an all-school assembly with representatives of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and the Bristol Fire Department. The purpose of this assembly was to inform the staff and students on what can be expected on the day of the drill and provide an opportunity to ask questions about the exercise.
