Registration open for National Weather Service 2019 Severe Weather Safety & Spotter Training Class April 10

National Weather Service Milwaukee will be conducting a Severe Weather Safety and Spotter Training Class on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. at
Gateway Technical College, Room T127, 3520 30th Ave., Kenosha.

Spots are expected to fill up quickly so reserve your seat by calling 262-605-7900.

First Hour: Severe Weather Safety Scenarios — Tornadoes, floods, lightning, wind and sources for warnings.

Second Hour: Storm Spotter Training — Why does the NWS need spotters? What weather should be reported? How should you report? NEW! Volunteer Social Media Search Teams.

Training will be led by a National Weather Service meteorologist and is free and open to the public. It is highly recommended for members of law enforcement, fire service, EMS, dispatchers and any other first responders and amateur radio operators. There is no obligation to become a storm spotter if you attend the second hour of training, so all are welcome to stay for both training sessions. Pre-registration is not required but recommended for planning purposes.

This class sponsored in cooperation with Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Management and Gateway Technical College.
