River forecast calls for Fox to top flood stage this week

The Fox River should top flood stage — and then some — this week, says the latest National Weather Service forecast for the river as measured at the New Munster Gauge.

The river is forecast to reach flood stage of 11 feet by 7 p.m., Wednesday. A crest of 12.9 feet is expected by Saturday afternoon.

Past rain, forecast rain for Tuesday night through Friday night and higher temperatures that should spur snow melt are the reasons for the expected increase in river level.
