Fox River receding before topping flood stage; flood warning still in effect

The National Weather Service has a flood warning in effect for the Fox River in Western Kenosha County, but the river appears to be receding before hitting flood stage.

Flood stage is 11 feet. The river was measured at the New Munster gauge at 10.86 feet at 3:45 a.m., Monday, but since then readings have been getting lower. The 9 a.m. reading was 10.4 feet.

That doesn’t mean there will be no flooding impact. Levels above 10 feet still impact some areas, says the NWS. The current forecast for the river has the level above 10 feet until Sunday.
