Fox River forecast to flood early next week

The National Weather Service has issued a forecast for the Fox River that has the river exceeding flood stage by Monday.

Rain forecast for this weekend and melting snow on the ground are expected to contribute to the rise, a hyrdologic outlook issued by the NWS says.

The forecast calls for the river to crest at 12.3 feet as measured at the New Munster gauge on Tuesday morning. Flood stage is 11 feet.

At 3 p.m., Friday the river is at 9.46 feet.

The forecast says the river will still be over flood stage as of Thursday.
