Snow update: 5:40 a.m., Jan. 28, 2019

Blowing and the resulting drifting of snow makes measuring of accumulation a little tricky, but after taking several measurements in different places we concluded we have about 5.5 inches of snow on the ground at headquarters in Paddock Lake at 5:40 a.m., Monday with snow still coming down strong. That’s since snow started falling last night.

A National Weather Service winter storm warning is set to continue until 6 p.m., Monday. Snow is forecast to continue through the warning period with perhaps another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible.

Even when the snow stops falling, blustery winds are expected to create blowing snow, making visibility difficult at times.

Local schools are closed for the day.
