Wind chill advisory Sunday morning; winter storm warning Sunday-Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for Sunday morning and a winter storm warning for Sunday night through Monday evening.

The wind chill advisory is set to be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday. During that period, temperatures may be as low as -7 with wind chill as low as -21. The NWS says: “Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken,” such as hat and glove use.

There also may be some light snow with accumulation of about a half inch Saturday night.

The winter storm warning is set to be in effect from 9 p.m., Sunday to 6 p.m., Monday. The latest, local NWS forecast at 4:25 p.m. is calling for 3 to 5 inches of snow Sunday night and 1 to 3 inches of snow Monday or a range of 4 to 8 inches of snow total.

There is still anticipation that some very cold weather will follow this storm. Highs are expected to be at 0 on Tuesday and below zero Wednesday and Thursday. The NWS is not forecasting wind chills yet for that period, but it would be very cold with any wind present at all.

Then it should get a little warmer. Friday’s high is forecast for 10 and Saturday’s high is forecast for a suddenly balmy sounding 25.
