Thirty-four students from Wilmot Union High School competed at the DECA District 6 Career Development Conference on Saturday, Jan.12.
DECA members traveled to Racine Case High School to compete in 28 occupational series events. Over 600 students from southeast Wisconsin participated in this conference by taking a 100 question exam and presenting their ideas to judges in two separate role plays. Students participated in a variety of occupational series events tied to career clusters. Fifteen Wilmot students were recognized on stage with seven students earning spots in the top four places overall in their event category.
Senior Olivia Pachol earned First Place for her performance on the Economics Excellence exam.
In Food Marketing, seniors Katie Strother and Ian Torstenson both earned a medal for Role Play #1. Ian earned 3rd place overall in this event.
12th graders Cassie Loeffler and Madelyn Lindeman earned 3rd place overall in the Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making category.
These seniors each earned a medal for a Role Play or Test: Lauren Christensen in Human Resources Management, Kevin Brenner for Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Madison Zerr in Marketing Communications, Olivia Pachol for Business Finance, Leif Triller in Apparel and Accessories Marketing.
Junior Angelina Burzawa took home a medal for Role Play # 1 in Hotel and Lodging Management.
Cade Girardi and Jake Maki were recognized for their performance in Quick Service Restaurant Management with Maki earning 3rd and Girardi winning 4th place overall.
In Restaurant and Food Service Management, junior Maisy Morgan and seniors Olivia Rzonca and Caryn Daniels each medaled in Role Play #2. Caryn Daniels also earned a medal for her cluster exam and won 3rd place overall for this event.
Wisconsin DECA’s state conference will be held on March 4-6 in Lake Geneva. Wilmot is seeking volunteers to judge at our State Conference
