Twin Lakes passes tax levy with 10 percent increase for 2019; tax rate stays flat

The Twin Lakes Village Board on Monday unanimously passed a 2019 tax levy of $4,025,130, a 10 percent increase over 2018.

Since the assessed value of all property within the village also increased over 2018 about 10 percent to $782,102,300, the mil rate will actual decrease slightly from $5.15/$1,000 of assessed value for 2018 to $5.14/$1,000 of assessed value in 2019. What your situation with village taxes will be depend on what may have happened to your property’s assessed value. If it did not change, your village taxes will be about the same. If it increased, your village taxes will increase. If your assessed value decreased, your village taxes will be less.

The above levy figure represents both the village levy, which the board controls, and the Community Library tax, which is not set by the village.
