Paddock Lake was stocked with a supply of young walleye last week.
The restocking was funded by the Paddock Lake Fish Stocking Association, which conducted fundraising to which local residents and businesses contributed (Note: Corrected from earlier versions — DH)
With cooler temperatures leading up to last Wednesday, some light surface ice had to be broken before the fish could be transferred to the lake at the village boat launch off 238th Avenue. A handful of onlookers greeted the new aquatic residents, which were transferred by net from a tank on a truck to a plastic tub and then poured gently into the lake.
In total, the lake will be stocked with 560 6-to-8-inch and 520 5-to-7-inch walleye for a total 1,080, said Bruce Giles of the PHFSA.
To stock walleye was decided after conferring with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
