Fox River receding; recent crest in Top 10

The Fox River is receding steadily and may be under flood stage by Sunday evening, says the latest, local National Weather Service river forecast.

At 6 p.m., the river measured at 12.43 feet at the New Munster gauge. Flood stage is 11 feet. A NWS flood warning remains in effect.

The crest for this event of 13.23 reached Sunday would be the eighth highest historical crest for the river, according to the NWS.

There is no more than a 30 percent chance of rain (on Saturday night) for the rest of the week in the latest, local NWS weather forecast.
