Fox River holding steady; crest forecast lowered

The Fox River as measured at the New Munster gauge is holding steady at just a little bit above 13 feet.

At 4 a.m. Tuesday, the river was at 13.02 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. The latest National Weather Service river forecast calls for a crest of 13.9 feet early Friday morning. That crest is a little lower than it has been.

A NWS flood warning remains in effect.

Sand bags are being made available by the village of Salem Lakes. Bags and sand to fill them is available at the Highway Department building on Highway C in Trevor and the old Silver Lake Highway Department facility, North Third Street and East Northwater St., in Silver Lake.

The latest, local weather forecast calls for rain to possibly start Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday.
