Fox River rise flattening out; flood warning remains

The Fox River is still well above flood stage, but the trend of a rapid rise from over the weekend seems to have leveled out.

However, with more rain in the latest, local National Weather Service weather forecast, the river forecast is still calling for a crest over 14 feet early Wednesday morning.

The river was measuring at the New Munster gauge at 13.23 feet Sunday evening. It has been receding a little since then and was at 13.19 at 4 a.m., Monday. Flood stage is 11 feet. A NWS flood warning remains in effect.

More rain is in the forecast, with the greatest chances coming Monday morning, Tuesday night and Wednesday.
