A flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Fox River, as measured at the New Munster gauge.
Steady rain over the weekend followed by more rain on Monday appeared to cause the river to rise rapidly. At 10 p.m. Sunday, the river was measuring just 7.56 feet.
Rain is expected to continue to fall Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday. Better than 50 percent chances of rain are in the forecast for Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday and Friday night.
