Here is a Sheriff’s Department Facebook post from early this morning:

UPDATE 8:02 a.m. — Bristol School proceeding with a mostly normal school day, after consulting with Sheriff’s Department:

A sheriff’s deputy was visible at Bristol School as students were entering school this morning.

UPDATE 8:16 a.m. — One suspect has been taken into custody; one remains at large. Here’s an updated news release from KCSD:

At approximately 10:24 pm last night, the Racine Sheriff’s Department (RSD) and Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) requested the assistance of the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department (KSD) with their high speed chase of armed robbery suspects in a stolen car. The chase was going southbound on I-94 in Kenosha County. A KSD Deputy was able to successfully use a tire deflation device just north of CTH C.  The suspect vehicle exited and headed west on CTH C.  East of CTH MB a Mount Pleasant Police squad collided with the suspect vehicle ending the vehicle pursuit, and two suspects fled on foot.  Deputies and Officers from KSD, RSD, and MPPD set up a perimeter and searched the area.  KSD K-9 squads were deployed and attempted to track the suspects. At approximately 3:45 am, a Bristol resident called reporting that a suspect had attempted to gain entry into his home in the area of the 14600 block of Wilmot Road.  The resident armed himself with a handgun and fired shots at the suspect, who ran away. Deputies and Officers continued the search, notified area residents and informed all area schools. At 7:40 am, a man was encountered riding a bicycle on I-94 and was taken into custody for an arrest warrant through Illinois.  This person told the arresting Deputy that he had been shot. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment. At this time one suspect remains at large.   The KSD is continuing the search with the assistance of the RSD, MPPD, Wisconsin State Patrol and Pleasant Prairie Police Department. The two suspects in the armed robbery were described as African-American men in their early 20’s, both wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, 5’6” to 5’10” tall.  Both men were reported to have displayed handguns at that armed robbery, which took place at a gas station on STH 20 in Mount Pleasant. Citizens are urged to call 911 if they see anyone suspicious.

UPDATE 12:19 p.m. — A person believed to be the second suspect is in custody. From a Sheriff’s Department news release:

At 11:52 am the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department apprehended a second subject matching the description of the suspect/s for this incident. This person asked to use the telephone at a business near the scene of the incident where the chase ended. He is currently in custody to be questioned by both Kenosha County Detectives and Mount Pleasant Officers. While it appears that this is the second suspect in this investigation, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department would like to remind all residents to remain diligent and aware.

Here’s a detailed narrative of the incident from Sheriff David Beth before the second suspect was apprehended: (video by Earlene Frederick):

UPDATE about 1:10 p.m. — Soft lockdown at Bristol School has been lifted.

UPDATE about 3:11 p.m. — Sheriff’s Department update says two suspects have been released to the custody of the Mount Pleasant Police Department for formal charging. Both are 19 year olds with unspecific Illinois addresses.
