Hope Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse expanding presence in Western Kenosha County

Hope Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse, a Kenosha agency that has been providing assessments and other services for people struggling with substance use disorders for nearly half a century, is expanding its presence into Kenosha County west of I-94 by offering meetings of its successful “Loved Ones Group” and a limited number of assessments at a location in Salem Lakes.

The Loved Ones Group is a series for adult family, friends, and others who are concerned about a loved one’s alcohol or other drug use. The group focuses on educating family members and others on how to identify addiction and develop effective approaches for helping the person with the substance use disorder.

Meetings are held every Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at Salem United Methodist Church, 25130 85th St, and are free and open to the public. No enrollment or personal information is required in order to attend, and the group is confidential.

Assessments are also conducted on Wednesdays, for the purpose of establishing driver safety plans for those who have been convicted of OWI offenses. Kenosha County residents who have been convicted of an OWI can contact Hope Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse for information on scheduling an assessment to begin the process of regaining their driving privileges.

Loved Ones Group is also offered at the downtown location, 5942 6th Avenue, Kenosha, every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.

The number to call for information about the Loved Ones Group or scheduling an assessment is: 262-658-8166.
