About 11:30 p.m., Thursday all the Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue stations and Bristol Fire and Rescue were dispatched for an explosion at a car wash in the 8300 block of Highway 83 (Antioch Road) in Salem.

Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue Chief Mike Slover said it appears someone blew up a large firework in one of the car wash bays.

People in the area heard the explosion, including personnel at Fire Station No. 2, which is across the street from the fire department.  Fire personnel saw the large cloud of smoke coming from the car wash.
