Units responding for gas leak in Paddock Lake

At about 9:45 p.m., Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue units are responding for a report of a possible gas leak in the 24700 block of 66th Street in Paddock Lake.

Per dispatch: Passerby reporting hissing sound and people outside. Maybe coming from between two homes.

UPDATE 9:50 p.m. — Deputies on scene report this is a confirmed gas leak. Area being evacuated. We Energies being notified. Additional engine from Station No. 1 dispatched.

UPDATE 9:55 p.m. — Wind from south; gas blowing to the north. Deputies to be closing down traffic on 248th Avenue (the Double Lanes) and 66th Street.

UPDATE 10:05 p.m. — Salem FD command reports leak under control, though response should continue from We Energies and Station #1.
