Woman and child drown in Twin Lakes

A 54-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy died in Twin Lakes Sunday in unrelated apparent drownings at different beaches, one on Lake Mary and one on Lake Elizabeth.

Release of the identities of both of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family, said Twin Lakes Police Chief Adam Grosz.

The following statement was released regarding the death of the 54-year-old woman:

On Sunday, August 5, 2018 at approximately 12:33PM, Officers from the Twin Lakes Police Department, and members of the Twin Lakes Rescue Squad responded to Lance Park, located at 57 Lance Dr, Twin Lakes, WI for a possible drowning of a 54 yr. old female. Upon arrival, Officers observed several subjects performing CPR on the female. Twin Lakes Rescue squad arrived within minutes; the 54 yr. old was conveyed to Aurora Hospital in Burlington, WI for treatment. Salem, WI Paramedics also responded to the scene and assisted. According to witnesses at the scene the female was swimming in the lake, when it appeared that she suddenly lost consciousness. She was immediately pulled from the water by witnesses and taken to shore where CPR was performed and emergency personnel were summoned. The female was later pronounced dead at Burlington
Hospital. More information will be available once the investigation is complete.

The following statement was released regarding the death of the 3-year-old boy:

Police Department, and members of the Twin Lakes Rescue Squad responded to Musial Beach for a possible drowning of a male 3yr old. Upon arrival, Officers observed several subjects performing CPR on the male 3 yr. old. Twin Lakes Rescue squad arrived within minutes; the 3 yr. old was conveyed to Aurora hospital in Burlington, WI and later died. The names are being withheld until the family is notified. Richmond, IL Paramedics also responded to the scene and assisted. Twin Lakes Police Department is investigating the cause of this water related incident.
