Brystal Schultz is 2018 Miss Bristol

Brystal Schultz was named the 2018 Miss Bristol on Friday at the banquet that kicks off the Progress Days community festival.

The naming of Miss Bristol is a traditional part of the banquet that kicks off the first day of the three-day community festival.

First runner-up was Kaitlyn Shaffer, second runner-up and Miss Congeniality was Haley Gorsuch, third runner-up was Emma Crowe and fourth runner-up was Kaitlyn Crider.

Schultz, 16, will be a senior at Central High School and is a lifelong resident of Bristol. She plans to attends college after high school and to study to become a nurse practitioner or physician working in pediatrics. He activities at school include membership in National Honor Society, vice president of Heath Occupation Students of America, pianist with Jazz Central and member of the varsity dance team. Her volunteer activities include Helping Hands Food Drive monthly, assisting at the Westosha Senior Community Center and community performances with Jazz Central and her piano studio.

“It would be a great honor to serve as Miss Bristol in the village I grew up in and love,” Schultz said in reading her bio to the audience.

Schultz also addressed her first name and the name of the village.

“As you can tell, my family must really like the town. People ask me all the time if I was named after it.” Schultz said. “By the way, I’m not.”

As Miss Bristol, Schultz will participate in activities during this year’s Progress Days and will represent the village at various functions through the coming year.
