The Western Kenosha County Tennis Association will hold its 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, June 9 at Central High School.
In 2008 WKCTA was formed by local tennis enthusiasts to promote the sport of tennis in the community. At that time Central High School had no tennis courts and no tennis teams.
On June 9 2018 WKCTA will be officially celebrating its 10 year anniversary and everyone is invited. The day will start with a USTA Level 5 Tournament and then open up the courts to all ages and skill levels for free drills, games and competitions. Food and drink will be available starting at noon. Registrations for the Summer Tennis Programs will also be accepted throughout the day.
In the past 10 years, WKCTA has:
- Helped support the referendum to build the stadium and tennis courts.
- Provided a series of tennis assemblies in local elementary schools to promote the summer tennis program.
- Along with school officials secured a USTA Facilities Grant to assist in the support of the court construction.
- Provided over $5,000 in college scholarship funds to high school seniors.
- Raised and donated over $10, 000 to the American Cancer Society through our Annual Rally for Life fundraiser.
- Introduced the game of tennis to over a thousand children and adults in the community through a number of summer programs .
- Supported Junior Tennis teams in statewide competition,
- Provided training programs to local elementary and secondary physical education teachers promoting tennis instruction in the schools .
- Provided nets, balls and racquets to elementary and secondary schools.
