Wheatland is joining the municipalities where burning has been banned due to environmental and weather conditions.
The Town of Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department has ordered a burning ban to be in effect until further notice, town Clerk Sheila Siegler announced via email Thursday morning.
ok mr wheatland every one else is lifting the ban didn’t you notice it rained last night maybe you should have put the burning ban in effect before all the houses and farms burnt down

As for having a ban implemented, anyone who is burning anything ‘should’ have enough sense to not burn when it’s windy or excessively dry around their place. When I burn I also look at wind direction as to not smoke out my neighbors.
But I guess we all aren’t rocket scientist.
Good argument for a little more consolidation or at least communication among the local fire chiefs. Seems like it was follow the leader here instead of some of them doing their jobs daily. Volunteer or not, that position is 24/7.
