Taxpayer Advocate Service “Problem Solving Day” will take place April 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kenosha County Job Center, 8600 Sheridan Road, Kenosha.
For taxpayers needing to resolve tax issues with the IRS, make arrangement for balances owed or simply want to offer suggestion to improve the IRS, representatives from the Taxpayer Advocate Service and Taxpayer Advocate Panel will be on hand offering free assistance.
For low income taxpayers seeking legal aid for tax related issues, representatives from the Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) will be on hand. LITC’s can represent you before the IRS or in court on audits, appeals, tax collection matters and other tax disputes.
Free assistance provided by these partners has not been available in the Kenosha/Racine area.
Taxpayers needing this type of assistance typically need to travel to Milwaukee. United Way VITA volunteers will be on hand to provide free income tax preparation for prior year(s) returns. Participants can speak with representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, Kenosha County Aging & Disability Resource Center, KAFASI, Associated Bank, UMOS Energy Assistance, Kenosha Public Library, and other community services and discuss banking and financial needs with members of local Financial Literacy Coalitions.
If you are wondering how the new tax reform laws will affect your tax return next year, plan on attending an informational session at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. to find out more about the impact of these new tax changes. Other informational sessions will be available including Medicare Fraud at
10:00am provided by Kenosha County Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC).
