Snow — yes snow — in forecast for Tuesday

It’s not some kind of lame, late April Fool’s joke. There really is accumulating — albeit not much accumulating — snow in the latest, local National Weather Service forecast for Tuesday.

Rain and/or snow is expected to start after midnight Tuesday. After 4 a.m., it should be all rain. Snow accumulation for this period should be .5 inch or less.

Rain should continue during the day Tuesday. After 6 p.m., snow should return and continue through midnight and perhaps as long as 6 a.m., Wednesday. New snow accumulation during this period could reach 1 inch.

Maybe this would be easier to take if the temperatures were trending to somewhere closer to normal. Alas, not the case. Tuesday’s high temperature should reach 41 and Wednesday’s high 34. Thursday’s high may reach 40, but expect highs in the 30s for Friday and Saturday.

In fact, the NWS says “a persistent area of cold air will remain over central and southern Canada the next several weeks,” perhaps keeping us chilly for the first half of April.
