Flood update: Fox River under flood stage

We didn’t get that forecast rain or snow or combination Thursday and it apparently had a very positive effect on the Fox River.

The river slipped under flood stage of 11 feet as measured at the New Munster gauge at around midnight Friday. At 4 a.m., the river was down to 10.92 feet.

Earlier forecasts, when the rain was still expected, had called for the river to rise and not be back under flood stage until early next week.

The NWS flood warning has been cancelled.

The Fox had been over flood stage since Feb. 20. It crested at 13.37 feet on Feb. 21. That crest is the seventh highest listed on the NWS web page for the New Munster gauge.
