Flood update: Fox crests at 13.37, now receding

The Fox River as measured at the New Munster gauge crested Wednesday afternoon and is now slowly receding.

The crest was at 13.37 feet at 2 p.m., Wednesday. At 4 a.m., Thursday, the river was at 13.28 feet.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Fox River in Kenosha County.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a slow retreat for the Fox, not getting below flood stage of 11 feet until noon Tuesday.

There is some rain in the latest, local NWS forecast for Thursday night and Saturday night, but amounts of less than .25 inch for each instance.

The crest of 13.37 is 7th on the NWS’s list of historic crests at the New Munster gauge.
