Salem School lockdown delaying dismissal

At 4:17 p.m., Salem School is on a lockdown.

Buses are waiting at the school.

A parent of a school student tells us an automated call went out saying the lockdown was due to an incident that happened near dismissal time and school officials are awaiting clearance from the Sheriff’s Department before students will be released.

UPDATE 4:32 p.m. — Sheriff’s Department says a report of an incident in which children were chased by an adult and subsequent search for the suspect prompted the lockdown. More info here.

UPDATE 4:43 p.m. — Person at the school says it appears children are being dismissed now.
