Snow update: 5 inches total; lesser chance of snow through weekend; plus reader photos

Each winter during snow removal, Trevor residents West and Janel Jacobs try and say thanks to the village workers that keep the streets clean with a cup of coffee.

We measured a total of 5 inches total of snowfall at headquarter  in the event starting Thursday evening. That was on he low end of the forecast for the winter storm warning period.

There is still a lingering chance of snow for the rest of the weekend — 40 percent Friday night, 50 percent Saturday morning and night and 40 percent chance on Sunday, says the latest, local National Weather Service forecast.

High temperatures for Saturday is forecast for 20 and for Sunday at 23.

West Jacobs awaits the approach of a Salem Lakes plow driver to offer them a cup of coffee in thanks for their hard work clearing snow.
