Kenosha Community Foundation accepting grant applications for 2018

The Kenosha Community Foundation has announced the following regarding local non profits applying for 2018 grants:

The Kenosha Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications from local not-for- profit organizations for 2018 grants funded from Unrestricted Funds that the Foundation manages. According to Robert Schneider, Foundation Executive Director, “for 2018, we adopted a new focus for grant making from our Unrestricted Funds. While we want to continue supporting projects of not-for- profit organizations that are in line with the Foundation’s mission (to enhance the present and ensure the future of the Kenosha Community), this year, we also strongly encourage not-for- profit organizations with projects that provide services in the areas of substance abuse, mental health or transportation apply for these grants – three priority areas identified in a Community Needs Assessment survey that we conducted in collaboration with the Kenosha County UW-Extension in November 2017.” Additionally, for grants from the Unrestricted Funds, the Kenosha Community Foundation will: • Give priority to collaborative efforts, with two or more organizations jointly planning and delivering projects that offer creative solutions or ideas. • Give priority to projects that use Foundation funds to leverage other funding sources. • Award a maximum of $7,500 per grant request. Grant applications are available on the Foundation’s website – www.kenoshafoundation.org, and must be received by the Foundation no later than 4 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018. Grant awards will be announced and awarded in June 2018. For additional questions, contact email@kenoshafoundation.org, or call 262-654- 2412. In 2017, the Foundation awarded grants to 14 not-for- profit organizations, totaling $56,000, from Unrestricted Funds. To answer questions about the Foundation’s new focus and criteria for its Unrestricted Funds grant making, the public is invited to attend the following community discussion: 4 pm – 5 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018, Kenosha Public Library- Southwest, 7979 38th Avenue, Kenosha. This discussion will include a brief presentation of the results of the Foundation/UW-Extension’s Community Needs Assessment survey that collected the community’s views on the priorities, opportunities and challenges in Kenosha and Kenosha County and how they influenced the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund grant making priorities. The presentation will be followed by an extended question and answer session. The discussion is free and open to all, but please RSVP at email@kenoshafoundation.org. The Kenosha Community Foundation, organized in 1926 as a tax-exempt public charity, actively manages over $11 million in permanent endowments established by individuals, families and business organizations. Each year, the Foundation awards over $300,000 in grants to Kenosha area not-for- profit organizations and scholarships to Kenosha County students.
