Western Kenosha County Youth Football changing team name to Junior Panthers

Western Kenosha County Youth Football is changing its team name and forming an alliance with Wilmot Union High School for the 2018 season.

The team, long known as the Bulldogs, will now be known as the Junior Panthers, the organization announced in a statement this week.

The statement said:

The Western Kenosha County Youth Football (WKCYF) and Cheer Executive Board is excited to announce that
beginning with the 2018 Football and Cheer season we will now be known as the Junior Panthers and we will be
wearing red, black, and white as our new team colors. We will still be The Western Kenosha County Youth
Football Program, however, our team name will now be the Junior Panthers. Becoming the Junior Panthers and
forming an alliance with the Wilmot Football and Cheer programs will afford us a greater opportunity to collaborate
with their programs and work to prepare our athletes for the future, while also increasing the enthusiasm within
the community for the Panther programs. The Executive Board along with the Wilmot Football and Cheer
programs have been in discussions regarding this union for the past few months. After much conversation, both
the High School programs and the WKCYF Executive Board feel this is a good fit for all parties.
Regardless of our name change, in 2018 the WKCYF will still offer football and cheer, remain in The Chicagoland
Youth Football League (TCYFL), and offer Bantam through Varsity teams. We will continue to serve all of
Kenosha County and the surrounding areas no matter what high school you will attend. We are very excited
about this new partnership and look forward to all the opportunities it will bring for our young football players and
cheerleaders. If you have questions, comments, concerns or would like to get more involved please feel free to contact us by
calling Mike Gentile at (262)891-7843.

Western Kenosha County Youth Football Program offers tackle football and cheerleading to all youth, boys and girls that reside in Western Kenosha County. WKCYF is an all volunteer non-for-profit organization.

As a former WKCYF “Bulldog” and Central Falcon Alumni i’m not sure how i feel about this… for students that will be going to Wilmot i can see how that is a morale booster. for students on their way to CHS it could be a clash of pride between schools.
