Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services Inc. hosted its annual Bowls ‘n’ Bakers soup competition fundraiser Wednesday at Parkway Chateau in Kenosha.

The event saw attendees voting for their favorite soup from offerings from eight Western Kenosha County restaurants. Besides all of the tasty soup there were raffles and a bake sale.

Though KAFASI has been hosting the event for 14 years, this year may have been particularly fortuitous for the soup theme, thanks to unseasonably chilling temperatures.

“It’s a great day for soup,” KAFASI executive director Katie Oatsvall told the crowd.

The stuffed green pepper soup from Luisa’s Restaurant from Wheatland was the crowd favorite. Other participating restaurants were Bassett Creek Saloon & Eatery, Parkway Chateau, Benders Bar & Grill, Sandlots of Salem, Home Again Restaurant, Charlie’s Place and Scully’s Silver Lake Grill.

Major sponsors of the event this year were PATS Services Inc., Luisa’s Restaurant and Lester’s Bison Farm.
