West side Paddock Lake residents to get electric service improvements

This map shows the project boundaries.

We Energies is planning a system improvement project in western Paddock Lake next year that a utility representative says should improve service to some 750 customers.

The project will replace wires, poles and transformers and result in a higher voltage service for the affected homes, said Cathy Schulze, spokesperson, We Energies.

“An American Transmission Company project will require the relocation of some of our facilities so we’re taking the opportunity to enhance our system on the west side of Paddock Lake,” Schulze said.

Forestry work also will be part of the project.

The $1.5 million project is expected to begin in May 2018 and wrap up by the end of the summer, Schulze said.

Boundaries of the project are approximately 60th Street on the north, 241st Court on the east, 247th Avenue and then 250th Avenue on the west and 75th Street (Highway 50) to the south.

A village staff memo to the Paddock Lake Village Board discussed at the committee of the whole meeting Tuesday said over the past three to four years electrical service in the  project area has been interrupted and that village staff and board members requested We Energies explore upgrading the distribution system.

The cost of the project will be born by We Energies.
