Richard Bong State Recreation Area announces September 2017 programs

Richard Bong State Recreation Area announces the following September programs:

  • Thursday, September 7 — Adopt a Highway.  Join us for the last highway clean-up of the year. You must be at least 12 years old to  participate.  A great way to earn service hours, get fresh air and exercise, all while helping the park!  Meet at the Visitor Center.  5-6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 9 — Sharpen Your Shooting Skills.  Join us to discover the basics and benefits of hand loading your own ammunition. Afterwards, try your aim on our indoor laser shooting station!  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Meet at the Visitor Center. 10-11 a.m.
  • Thursday, September 14 — Knee-high Naturalist.  Bring your 3-5 year old to this fun and involving program.  This month, let’s go OVER IN THE MEADOW!  Please call (262) 878-5601to pre-register or to cancel.  Meet at the Visitor Center. 10-11:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, September 16 — Candlelight Hike. Bring the family for fall fun by candlelight.  Hike the two-mile trail on your own or join us for a shorter guided hike. We’ll have a bonfire and marshmallows.  Meet at the Visitor Center.  7-9 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 24 — Wolf Lake Trail Run/Walk.  Enjoy a beautiful 5K or 10K run or a 1 mile walk to raise funds for the park.  Raffles, homemade bakery, pottery mug awards and chili feed.   Fee is $30/adult, $18 for youth 14 and younger.  Contact (262) 206-9017 or 262-332-0023 or wltrinformation@gmail.com for more information.  Meet at the beach.  No park entrance fees today!  Packet pick up 8-9:15 a.m.  9:30 a.m start.
  • Saturday, September 30 — Leaf Art.  Drop in between 1 and 2pm to let your creativity run wild as you use real fall leaves and colorful pens to create beautiful Zentangle art.  Fun for all ages! Stay for as little or long as you like.  Meet at the Visitor Center. 1-2:30 p.m.
