2017 Sheriff’s Department Citizens Academy accepting applications

The 2017 Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Citizens’ Academy has been announced.

Classes are held once a week and will begin Tuesday, Oct. 17., and end Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The Citizens’ Academy is a seven-week overview of all aspects of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, with a formal graduation on Tuesday,
Nov. 28.

Highlights of the academy include tours of all the Sheriff’s Department facilities, in depth discussions and demonstrations by the Detentions Division, Investigation Bureau, Tactical Response Team, Bomb squad, K-9 unit and Domestic Violence and Impaired Driving laws. The class size is limited so only 20 applicants will be accepted.

An applications is  available here, by e-mail, on the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department website or at the Sheriff’s Department. Applications will
be accepted through Oct. 1.

    I have gone through this course, and it’s a great visual and hands on course. It will provide you with what they are doing and from the in house, dispatchers, dog handlers and on the road with them.
