Woman dies in Friday crash in Paddock Lake

A woman died in a crash in Paddock Lake Friday afternoon.

Melanie L. Olson, 56, of Walworth County, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, said a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department news release.

From the news release issued by the Sheriff’s Department:

On 08/18/17 at 2:07 PM the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department as well as Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue Responded for a report of a serious vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 83 commonly referred to as ‘Brass Ball Corners.” Investigation revealed that a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro exited a parking lot located on the southwest corner with the intent to travel eastbound. The operator of the Camaro attempted this by entering lane #1. Operator failed to see eastbound traveling 2004 Honda Element. The Camaro struck the Element on the passenger side resulting in the Honda rolling on its side (operator side down). The operator of the Honda who was not wearing a seatbelt suffered serious head injuries as a result of the collision. Rescue notified Flight for Life Helicopter for possible transport of the victim but the injuries were too severe and the operator was pronounced dead. Deceased operator was identified as Melanie L. Olson (11-21-60). Operator of the Chevrolet Camaro was cited for failing to yield rite of way causing death and improper right turn. No other factors were noted for this incident. Location was closed to traffic for proper investigation for approximately three hours.
