Highway 45 update July 22, 2017: New closures, common excavation, water main relocates, erosion control

Note: With the help of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, we will be telling our readers what work took place on the Highway 45 project in the week just past and what is expected to take place in the coming week. Check back every Friday (well, Saturday this week. Completely my bad. WisDOT was on the ball — DH) for the latest.

What happend this week (Week of July 17) — Set line for curb and gutter on Friday. Continued installing storm sewer between 86th St and 83rd St. Continued common excavation for Stage 2A. Continued common excavation and base agg. placement between County JS and County C. Will continue traffic signal installations at County C/US 45 and County WG/US 45. Began watermain relocates north of 83rd St. Continued placing erosion control devices due to heavy rain.

What’s expected to happen next week (Week of July 24) — Starting July 24, no traffic will be able to access US 45 from WIS 50. Traffic should proceed east to County D and take that south to 83rd St. Residents heading to Bristol Bay should then use 198th Ave and 80th St. Residents leaving Bristol Bay will have to leave taking US 45 to the south. Beginning July 31, only traffic heading to Bristol Bay will be able to able to use US 45 from WIS 50 to get to 79th St. No traffic will be allowed south of 79th. All other traffic will need to use County D. Traffic leaving Bristol Bay will need to go north on US 45. Also, install fence at County C retaining wall. Slip curb and gutter from County Q to 196th Ave and at County CJ. Remove pavement for base patches between County Q and 196th Ave. Pour concrete base patches between County Q and 196th Ave. Will be installing permanent signing at County WG. Willl be getting an overhead inspection done on the signals at County WG. Will continue signal installation at County C. Will continue installing storm sewer between 86th St and 83rd St. Will continue common excavation for Stage 2A. Will continue watermain relocations north of 83rd St. Will begin storm sewer work north of 83rd St. Will begin joint and crack repair on the existing concrete base.
