After a round of persistent and at times heavy rain, the National Weather Service is forecasting a rise in the level of the Fox River as measured at the New Munster gauge in Wheatland.
So far, however, actual readings from the gauge are not showing that swelling. At 5 a.m., the river was at 12.46 feet.
Two days of very heavy rains caused a record crest on the river of 17.47 on July 13. Flood stage is 11 feet.
